The steps to correctly measure a straight line on the ceiling are as follows:

First, you need to prepare a tape measure for easy measurement;

Second, when measuring the ceiling, read the tape where the slight creases in the tape meet the corners of the ceiling and wall.

Next, when you move the ladder to the center point of the ceiling, you‘ll need to divide this measurement by half to mark it with a light pencil. This marking process will be used to mark each of the 4 walls of the space.

By the way,between the midpoints, you‘ll need to draw a chalk line or use a laser chalk line, effectively dividing the ceiling into 4 equal quadrants.

Place the frame square against the ceiling at the intersection of the 4 lines. If the lines meet at a 90-degree angle, use a tape measure to measure each line.

If the lines don‘t meet at a 90-degree angle, select the longer line and create a new chalk line to frame the square on the shorter dimension, making the lines square to each other.
